WWE Defining Moments Action Figure Review and Giveaway.

I think I started to watch professional wrestling late in life compared to the average fan.  I think I was 11 or 12.  I remember being at my mother's house one weekend and my step-dad was watching it one night.  I couldn't tell you who was fighting, but I remember one of the guys "took a bite" out of their opponents forehead and spit a chunk of flesh with blood into the air.  My step-dad commented on how fake it was (not bashing the show, just that particular move), but I didn't care I became hooked.

I brought my enjoyment of professional wrestling into my marriage, and passed it down to MaddSkillz.  He started watching as John Cena, Randy Orton, and Batista started making it big time.  He started to collect all the wrestling action figures and belts and acquired quite the collection.

So when I was asked to review some new wrestling figures from Mattel & WWE, it was a no brainer I would do it.

Through Mattel, WWE has a line of figures under the "Defining Moments" label.  This line takes a defining moment in the history of the WWE programming and recreates the character in the outfit they wore at that time.  There is also a story on the back of the packaging detailing the events to make that particular time a defining moment.

According to the press release:
"Perfect for the ultimate WWE fan, the Defining Moments Figure assortment celebrates a famed event that defined the careers of some of the greatest WWE Superstars.  The figures feature elite-level detailing, superior articulation, high-quality soft goods and a display stand.  The first figures introduced from this all-new line of collectible figures include "Macho Man" Randy Savage - WrestleMania VII, Ultimate Warrior - WrestleMania VII,  Shawn Michaels - The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania, and The Rock - Tribute from Mankind."

The two I was given for review were Randy Savage and Shawn Michaels.

Both figures are the best looking ones I've seen in a wrestling related figure.  All the outerwear is removable and in great detail.

MaddSkillz and I actually went to the WrestleMania 25 show the Shawn Michaels figure is modeled after.  Michaels looks like the Anti-Undertaker dressed all in white.  Which is what he was supposed to look like.  Taker was representing the dark side and  Michaels (a born again Christian) was fighting from the light.  The match was pretty intense with Michaels losing.

Undertaker doesn't lose at WrestleMania FYI.

I don't feel these are the type of action figures you actually play with.  Although the ages are for 8+, I see these as more collectibles than ones you throw around a toy wrestling ring.  I saw this because of the ornate design of Macho Man's jacket.  The streamers coming from the sleeves make the figure too pristine to play with in my opinion.  Also the price tag is $22.99 each.  I'm not a big fan of giving my kids 23 bucks to throw around and lose within 30 minutes of giving it to them.

So this could be a great gift for Father's Day for that Fan-Boy Dad.

If you do intend to play with them, please keep in mind there are small pieces which can become choking hazards if you are my kids or generally any child under the age of 3.
