Sony's Spider-Verse Expands with Black Cat and Silver Sable

Even though Spider-Man is currently in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), Sony's Spider-Verse  is expanding with a new movie centering on Black Cat and Silver Sable.

Sony Pictures is moving forward with spin-offs which are unrelated to Tom Holland's web-head and the most recent one to land a director is the Black Cat and Silver Sable movie. Gina Prince-Bythewood (Marvel's Cloak and Dagger) has been attached to direct.  Prince-Bythewood will also be rewriting Christopher Yost's  (Thor: The Dark World) screenplay.

The movie has been given the title Silver & Black.

Prince Bythewood is the latest in a growing number of female directors to take charge of a super-hero movie with female leads. This would also be the first time both characters will be in action in a feature length feature.

Felicia Hardy, Black Cat's alias, was played by Felicity Jones in the Amazing Spider-Man 2.  Her role was significantly cut down in the movie.  If the franchise continued, she could have been seen in later installments in costume. Silver Sable has been in numerous Spider-Man animated shows yet has made an appearance in any Spider-Man movie as her character or alias, Silver Sablinova.

Silver and Black is scheduled to arrive in theaters in October 2018

About Silver Sable

Silver Sable is a mercenary, hunter of war criminals, the leader of the Wild Pack, and CEO of Silver Sable International. Although sometimes a legitimate mercenary, her methods and motives have sometimes brought her into conflict with other superheroes. Occasionally, she is seen as an ally of Spider-Man and other heroes. She debuted in 1985 in Amazing Spider-Man #265 and has been affiliated with Luke Cage and the Heroes for Hire.

About Black Cat

Felicia Hardy is the daughter of a world-renowned cat burglar. After suffering a traumatic event as a college freshman, she trained herself in various fighting styles and acrobatics and, after deciding to follow in her father's footsteps, adopted her costumed identity as the Black Cat. She first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #194 (July 1979).
